THIS message comes up

UNMOUNTABLE _BOOT_VOLUME
If this is the first time you've seen this stopr error
screen restatrt your computer. If this screen appears
again, follow these steps:
Check to make sure any new hardware or software is
porperty installed. If this is a new installation, ask
your hardware or software manufacturer for any indown
updates you might need.
If problem continues, disable or remove any newly
installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory
options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use
safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your
computer, prese F8 to selected Advance Start up options,
and then select safe mode.

I tried safe mode, restart, and chkdsk/r which lead me
back to the above message. Any suggestions? Please let
me. Thank you

I am having the same problem. I have followed the instructions given on the
microsoft site to no avail. Its a brand new pc. I just built it. In the
10 years I have built PC's and the year or so I have been using and
installing XP, I have yet to run across this error.

Cimex, I would do a search on the microsoft knowledge base for unmountable
boot volume. It gave very specific instructions to fix it. It might help
you.
