Unmount boot error

I have been trying to install my OEM Win XP and all i
have been getting is the unmountable boot volume error. I
have put my system in fail safe mode and still have had
no luck, could someone please help.

Power off
Desktop:...Open the case and reseat the hard drive IDE ribbon cable at
both ends.
Laptop:... simply remove and reinsert the hard drive.

Otherwise go to the website of the hard drive manufacturer and
download their hard drive diagnostics.

Do you have a hard drive overlay such as Max Blast?
Windows XP sometimes has issues with overlay software.
You may need to perform a Clean Installation without there overlay
software which is not needed anyway.

I did all that and I still have a problem, I was
wondering if when I had to flash the bios, to correctly
read my processor could have made it almost impossible to
do a clean install.
