Been trying to clean up some executables in my Task Manager,
and this executable refuses to stop running (QTLQdMd.exe).

Tried searching this file on the net with no success. It is not
part of the System file structure, but suspect part of an
software program. There are two listings of this file in the
Manager, one a little over 3Mg and the other a little over
5Mg.

When I try and stop both tasks in the Manager, it replicates
itself almost indefinetily, forcing the system to hang, requiring
a reboot.

Suspect it to be a virus, but have Norton running and it did
not detect it to be one.

Any ideas, or do you have a similar situation??

thx in regards

did you try to search for the executable using My Computer/Explorer?
What directory does it show up in?

The file resides in it's own directory in Program Files. I deleted the
entire folder and, also removed any association in the registry using
'regedit'.

Upon reboot, it reappeared again. Apparently, some other file and/or
program is the parent to this annoying file/program. I am suspecting
a virus, and will take the advise of de Graff and run the program
recommended.

again, thx for all the help.
