"Unknown User Accounts"

Hello everyone,
I have additional User Accounts listed in my Security tabs here and there
and are unknown to me. It has a faded head icon with a questions mark beside
it. It is named "Account Unknown(s-1-5-32-547). Does any one know what it
is?

Thanks,
BK

I'm sure you'll get a detailed reply from the experts but my pc tells me
these are vendor's accounts, one for support from MS and one from pc
manufacturer. Both are apparently disabled on my m/c.

I may be wrong but it would seem like that account was a deleted account or
an account left over from a previous install of Windows. Have you
reinstalled windows on that computer without doing a format or have you
installed windows over another version of windows? Or maybe deleted an
account and then did a system restore?

If so .. that is probably where this user account came from.

From command prompt you can use these commands to check and delete the
users:

1) To check Users:

net user

2) To delete Users:

net user USERNAME /del

Please note that USERNAME is the one you want to delete.

To go to command prompt, START, RUN cmd

No, I have not done any of those you mentioned below. I think they are the
users that have logged in remotely and now they are not in the system. This
is on my Win 2003 Domain Server at home office.

Thank you,

BK

Thank you for the comments. I don't think I can delete this user account
since it does not appear in AD User list. I noticed them on my xp machines
(don't remember where exactly they were) and in my server 2003 machine under
the printer's security tab. I wish I could submit a snap shot of the
printer's properties for you guys here.

Thank you,

BK
