account information including mailing addresses, contact lists,
encrypted passwords and encrypted answers to security questions. And
possibly credit card information. AOL claims that it affects 'only' 2%
of their members, but recommends that everyone change their passwords
and security questions.

How come they dont issue free AOL floppies in magazines and other
sources anymore??????

I used to get them, re-format them, and use them for other stuff.....

Remember when the AOL-Time Warner merger was considered as the creation
of the biggest juggenaut in media history and a sure-fire monopoly?
People were so sure that AOL was essentially going to "own" the Internet
and any associated technologies, espeially with Time Warner's assistance.

Do people still use AOL?

They have free emails that people still use them. I have three accounts
with them and I know one of my accounts was hacked. The damage was the
hacker sent me messages using emails of my other accounts. I use free
accounts to subscribe newsletters and to post on forums. I don't use
them for any other purpose. So no damage done as far as I am concerned.

Because there is no longer dial-up connection in most developed
countries. In UK it is almost impossible to get from big telecom
companies. Also floppy drives don't exist any more so no point in
distributing them.

Those were the days!!!!

They were the days when it was worth it to reuse the floppies but costs
are so low these days, it is not worth it at all.
