Unknown message is shown when any action is done on a table

I have installed the microsoft office 2003 and I had no problems using VB6
and msaccess as a database. When I installed SP2, an "Unknown" message is
shown every time I try to open a table or editing it. The message shown from
the msaccess is just Unknown, having no extra error description. When I
close the message, the msaccess is forced to close down by the system and a
report is then sent to microsoft. When I run my VB6 programs, I get the
Unknown error message and the following as well: Run-time error '-2147217900
(80040e14)': Unknown.

I have uninstalled the microsoft office and installed the office 2003 again,
but still showing the message.

Can anyone help me out please?

When I try to create a new db to check, it will close down the msaccess and
launch the process of sending the error report to microsoft. I tried to
check the references from the tools, but I couldn't find them. I can't
access or create anything!!

I have done it again about 5 minutes ago, a status bar message was shown
stating thst it was updating my Microsoft Office 2003 professional etc etc...
After that I have tested again my msaccess but still the same. This error is
strange because it can't be found within the msaccess help itself, what I'm
saying is that every time the error "Unknown" is shown and I try to open
another database again at the same time the report is being sent to
microsoft, another different error is shown having the following description:
Object Library Not Registered.

I think that the installation was initialised but its like termintated in
the background or something like that. Do you think that I need to use my
office CD's to repair it? can this be done?

It might be 2003 Problem only (I don't use it), therefore I am not the
right person.

Try to post the question again with 2003 in the subject with the
information what you have done, then maybe another person can help you
better.

Sorry

I had a similar problem, as well as Access crashing. After re-registering
the MSJTES40.DLL, all problems have cleared.

Find MSJTES40.DLL (should be in windows\system32. Copy it to your desktop.
START - RUN and use REGSVR32 to re-register this critical Jet Engine DLL (in
the RUN box, type REGSVR32 and a space. Then drag the (copied) file from
your desktop to the run box (to have a complete line such as REGSVR32 "full
path to MSJTES40.DLL" and ENTER -- you should see a confirmation box that
registration was successful. Once successful, restart Access (and you can
delete the copied DLL on your desktop).

Good luck. . .

Ah, we're top posting her, but who cares!

My thanks to LizardLick - whoever you are. I've done just about everything
I could think of and then some and couldn't get my access tables back - you
saved my hide!!!!

Very much appreciate the answer - long before I posed the question. //al
