I have the following icon on my task bar (right end): Canoscan D660U Utility!
However, I cannot identify this icon, or where it came from. And it doesn't
go away when I right click it, exit it, and then I re-boot (when it comes
back). I do not have a Canon scanner, but did load a printer software (iP90),
although I don't think this icon was launched with that software (but who
knows (o;). Any suggestions on how to get rid of it - if it is of no value?

You pretty much have identified it. It was part of the Canon printer
software you said you loaded.

Thanks Colin. Short of deleting the iP90 software, do you know of any way to
get rid of this particular icon? However, from time-to-time I do use the iP90
printer, but not to scan. Any further suggestions?

Thanks again Colin. Right clicking on the icon brings up an 'exit' command,
but it only works until the next boot, when the icon returns. It would be
possible, I suppose, to delete the software and then do a custom re-install,
if that would allow me to not install the Canoscan component, although that
component may play some sort of role in printing photographs with the
particular Canon printer (iP90) that the software came with. Or, maybe I'll
just have to ignore it!
