I received an icon that is a Y with a colon over it. It
states that it is a file, but you can't do anything with
it. Is anyone familiar with this icon? I checked McAfee
and Norton, and could not find any associated virus with
it.

Thanks,
Clay

Looks like a rather rude icon there buddy! You been
visiting the porny sites?

Did you scan with a current antivirus using updated definitions (not
just search on the av sites)? Try removing spyware with Spybot S&D
(www.security.kolla.de) and Ad-aware (www.lavasoftusa.com).

A symbol that looks like a lower case y with two dots above it is the
ASCII ISO 8859-1 (Latin-1) character for the hex value FF (255). (Or,
it's hex 98 in IBM PC Extended ASCII). If it's an uppercase Y with two
dots, it's the "Microsoft Windows Latin-1 Added Character" for hex 9F
(159). See, e.g., http://www.bbsinc.com/iso8859.html

Most likely, what you are seeing is a control character or other
information that was not intended to be printed, but somehow got put
into a context where your browser is attempting to interpret it as
text. For example, see http://tinyurl.com/t6eg about half way down the
page, after the sentence "Now I have switched to a Windows 98 PC."

In any case, if I were you, I'd delete the file and stop worrying about
it.
