Unknown File Format

I have Windows XP Media Center Version 2002. I installed Office 2007 Beta
and didn't like it. So I uninstalled it. I reloaded in Office XP and now I
cannot use the Photo Editor. When I try to open a .jpg file, I get an
"Unknown File Format" error. I cannot save a file with .jpg either.

I have tried the following fix that Microsoft has published:
For Microsoft Windows XP
1. Log on as administrator or as a member of the administrators group.
2. Click Start and then click Run. In the Open box, type Regedit.exe.
3. Select the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Graphics Filters
4. On the Edit menu, click Permissions and then click Advanced.
5. Verify that the Inherit from parent the permission entries that apply to
child objects check box is selected.
6. Select Users from Permission entries, and then click Edit.
7. In the Allow column, select the Full Control check box, and then click OK.
8. Click OK and close the Registry Editor.

IT STILL DOESN'T WORK. I have tons of digital photos that I need to crop,
resize, etc and I can't get Photo Editor to work. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP
ME????!!!!

I haven't seen this specific scenario before so
I'm making a guess but I suspect your .jpg graphics
filter has been damaged or uninstalled.

I would suggest that you search for...and rename
the following filter:
JPEGim32.FLT to JPEGim32.OLD

Now...maybe you could go to...Add-Remove programs
and choose Office XP...look for options to repair
or install features....look for Graphic Filters.

Or possibly just reinstall the complete program.

Good luck, if you try it...let me know the result.
