Unknown Devices - CD-ROM CD-RW and SCSI DAT24

Hi,

This is a strange one.

The drives above all appear in my Device Manager as Unknown.

Is this common and if so does anyone know the fix.

Thanks Rich,

The symptoms described in KB Article do not match the problem.

The fact is I'm trying to narrow down a STOP 0x8E problem and I found when I
checked the "Device Manager" that XP seems to have misassigned or not
assigned the devices to their correct groups.

The CR-ROM and CD-RW drives should appear as CD-ROM/DVD Drives and the DAT
24 should be Listsed as a Tape Device.
