Hi all,

Is there a way to uninstall just the firewall
in Service Pack 2?

thanks,
charles.....

Greetings Charles,

The Windows Firewall is part of Service Pack 2 so you cannot just uninstall
the firewall. You can disable it though if you are using a third party
firewall or have it properly configured if there are applications or
services that are being blocked. Are you having problems with certain
programs being blocked? If so, see the following Microsoft Knowledge Base
Article.

Hi Eric,

I have having a heck of a time trying to determine why my XPH machine
wasn't browsing/seeing the rest of my computers on my home Windows
network. It turns out that the OEM cd I used to install installed Norton
Internet Protection. Once I uninstalled it, the lan started working fine.
Appearently the Norton firewall was blocking XPs' ability to browse my
local lan. Thanks to all the others who were in the helping process.
