I have Vista and want to uninstall the office trial software and install
software that I purchased. I uninstalled and installed the new but it say's
that I have so many day's left, like it didn't uninstall the trial software.
How do I get rid of this trial soft so I can install the purchased software.

1. Click Start, click Run, type:

%AllUsersprofile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Office\Data

and then click OK.

2. Right-click the Opa12.dat file, and then click Delete.

Important: Do not delete the opa12.bak file.

3. Close the folder.

4. Start a 2007 Office program to start the 2007 Office Activation Wizard.

The fix did not work. I have a similar issue and more regarding trial
software that came with my Gateway Vista. I have purchased, installed and
registered Microsoft Office PROFESSIONAL 2007, that cost me $$$. It works
well. However, when I go to download templates for my use, Microsoft Office
Genuine Advantage reports that my PC has a copy of Microsoft Office Home and
Student 2007 that is not valid.

Although I had uninstalled Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007, it still
shows as an installed program in my Control Panel, although none of its
components show in START/Programs any longer. Only the Microsoft Office
PROFESSIONAL 2007 programs are in START/Programs.

When I try to UNINSTALL Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 from the
Control Panel, I get a message that the installation files are corrupted and
that I need to reinstall from the original media source. I do not have the
original media source for the trial software, (and I don't want to reinstall
it either.) I just want to DOWNLOAD the templates that I need!

The files that remain showing in
%AllUsersprofile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Office\Data
are 89446.bpc, opa11.dat, OPA12.BAK and opa12.dat

I suspect that I will need to delete certain Registry entries. PLEASE HELP!

Did you have Office 2003 installed before on your computer. And what version was it and was it a Trial version.

I understand that you have Office 2007now but I am asking about Office 2003 before you put your present one on your system

Thanks for the quick follow-up, Peter. I recently purchased this NEW
multimedia Gateway Vista model GM5407E. It came with Microsoft Office Home
and Student 2007 Trial version. The only MS Office software that I ever
installed on this computer is Microsoft Office PROFESSIONAL 2007. MS Office
2003 was never installed. - Steve Levine
