Uninstalling & Reinstalling Windows Vista

I purchased Windows Vista in Feb. 2007. A couple of months ago it started
doing goofy things and Best Buy suggested that I uninstall and reinstall and
then get updates. I have backed up all my files. Question 1) After
reinstalling, which updates should I install? I saw several on the download
site. 2) Will I lose my printer hookup by doing this? Thanks.

What "goofy things" is it doing? Maybe your problem is something that can
be fixed without having to resort to a reinstall of Vista. But, if you are
set on reinstalling, a clean install is the way to go. A clean installation
will format the hard drive and install Vista from scratch. You can Google
for "clean install of Vista" and find plenty of information to help you out.
You will lose everything on the drive if you do this. Make sure you have
all your data backed up to CD's, a USB flash drive, or some other form of
storage.

After the reinstallation simply allow Windows to find the updates issued for
your version of Vista. Of course, you will have to reinstall all your
scanners, printers and other hardware. You will also need all the Vista
drivers for your chipset, modem, video card and so on.
