Uninstalled IE7 Beta 2, now IE6 is going crazy

I uninstalled IE7 seemingly fine. IE6 came back up and everything
afterwards, but as soon as I try to browse to any url in IE6 it
freezes. It's a really odd "freeze" because when you bring another
window up in front of the frozen IE6 window, in a few seconds IE6 comes
to the foreground again yet it hasn't repainted itself at all. It's
completely broken. I'm using FireFox to get here and I'd be fine with
using it going forward but I'd rather not have a hosed IE6 if I can
help it. Any suggestions? I don't run system restore so that's out.

Thanks for the links. IE6 ran perfectly fine before I downloaded,
installed and then subsequently uninstalled IE7 Beta 2. But just to be
sure, I've run Adaware, Spybot, MS's Anti Spyware, and a full virus
scan with Norton. Nothing was found (I run a clean machine.. well, up
until I installed IE7). I don't see anything unusual when I run
Hijackthis either. I've read others have had issues with rolling bacl
to IE6 but nothing like I am experiencing.

*sigh*

You *should* not be having any issues removing it.

First see here:

You are asking an IE7 beta 2 question, for better support see the IE general
group. More info:

Now, that that is all done PA Bear's usually spot on and malware is suspect
though this MIGHT be due to a non-malware related BHO and I avoid stomping
on toes but this oozes of it but before we get there I want to make sure you
take the time to restore to a time even before IE7b2 was installed if you
can. Don't worry - most programs and your data files aren't touched by
restore - how much memory do you think it takes anyhow?

The same applies BUT isn't updated as I'm a slacker...

Anyhow, head to the appropriate newsgroup if nothing here helps. You're
technically (sort of) asking for plumbing help from elephant herders.

It helps us immensely if you include all of (or at least most of) previous
message(s) in your replies to the newsgroup. Thank you.

To be certain the machine's hijackware-free, I strongly recommend posting
your HijackThis log to one of the appropriate forums I cited in my first
reply.

If the experts there also give it a clean bill of health, try using System
Restore, choosing a Restore Point that predates the install of IE7 Beta.
