uninstall win xp

Boot with a 98 boot disk, format and install 98.

I installed windows xp on my laptop, cuz i just got a new harddrive
for it.. but now it dose't play ne sound but if i go back to my other
harddrive it plays sound and it has win 98 on it.. i just want to get
rid of XP on my laptop and go back to using good old 98. but it will
not let me format or uninstall Windows Xp. I need help on how to get
rid of it... any help will be appriciated
