Uninstall Outlook XP to upgrade to 2007

Followed instructions from MS to go to Start >Control Panel > Add/Remove Prog
click the Office Suite installed > Change > Add/Remove Features > Next
......
but get stuck at CLICK TO CLEAR THE OUTLOOK CHECK BOX. There IS no checkbox
next to Outlook, only a plus sign, which, when clicked, drops down to reveal
the elements included in Outlook (i.e. stationary, etc.).

Three questions:

(1) Where do I find the checkbox? (I'm running Office XP on Windows XP)

(2) A. If I ENTIRELY uninstall Office XP from my system and ENTIRELY
re-install Office 2007, will I lose my calendar and contact info from XP?
B. If I uninstall/re-install where do I go to collect/insert my prior
Outlook info (calendar/contacts, etc) into Outlook 2007?

Loving EVERYTHING about every other aspect of 2007 I've been using on
trial...very intuitive and easily adapted to. The Outlook thing is the only
hangup I've experienced.

You can either insert the Office2007 cd, which should offer to ugrade your
old installation, or you can uninstall entire OfficeXP suite, prior to
installing 2007
Which ever method you choose it has no impact on data, though a backup is
allways wise.
Whilst outlook2007 should automatically connect to your old data, it would
be better that you created a new data file, which is in the latest unicode
format and doesnt have the size limitation that the old has.
Once done & you have test OL2007 settings, File>Open>Data File.....browse to
& open your old data file (outlook.pst) Then copy data from the old to new

I have a similar problem... but more complex. Short version: I installed
Office 2007 (was using 2002). Outlook did not install because a previous
version existed. So I uninstalled Office 2002. Outlook still would not
install. Since I'm highly dependent on Outlook I attempted to reinstall
Office 2002... it did reinstall but Outlook won't work due to a patch file
problem... and I now can't uninstall Office 2002 for the same reason.

My Outlook data is backed up... if I could only get a version of Outlook
installed and working!
