My computer (running WinXP Pro) was running slow, so I
checked what processes were running, and uninstall.exe is
always running in background after startup, using 70-90%
of available memory.

I can kill it, but I have to do it eveyr time I boot up.
I have a SpyWare killer, but it hasn;t located whatever
is causing this to run.

Any ideas?

Which 'uninstall.exe'? Many appl have their own uninstall program. Find out (ri-click file for properties) to which appl it refers.

First, you have to find out how it's being started. Use
Start\Run to run msconfig.exe. Look under the Startup
tab. This tool will allow you to configure programs,
drivers, and services which are set to start
automatically. BE CAREFUL. Stopping some things can be
very bad.

Also, search your hard drive for all instances of
uninstall.exe. NOTE: Don't delete them! Just find them.
You might be able to identify which one is the culprit.
