CPU At 100%

Recently CPU always at 100% with
Process "explorer.exe" running at 99%.
Running any apps very slow and often have
to use Task Manager to end.

Have done system cleanup and defragged,
No viruses or spyware and disabled unnecessary
Startup Items and Services.

OS WinXP Pro SP2. Any info on what else
might try would be much appreciated.

What antivirus and antispyware are you using? Some are mediocre at
best and some others are worse than useless.

The IE 7 Beta 2 did not work well with m y computer because it slowed
everything down and gave me lots of freezes. I removed it and got back to
normal and now everything is fine. My CPU was always running at 100%,
explorer.exe 99%.....that was the clue.

Tx for replies. Removed IE7 but didn't make
any difference. Further troubleshooting didn't
help and finally decided was easier to format
and reinstall everything. System running ok again.
