Uninstall AVG Free Edition anti virus

I tried to uninstall AVG Free Edition of anti virus. THis is message I
received Action failed for file avg7.Ing creating backup. The process cannot
access the file because it is being used by another process.

I cannot go into system to uninstall it will not let me but yet I was
disconnected from AVG. THey discontinued avg7. I was having trouble with my
firewall on aol. So I downloaded the security and safety system which
included their anti virus Mcafee and aol said they noticed other anti virus
and I needed to uninstall them. which I can't.
Also another problem when online I get a message the content you requested
is unavailable. I don't understand any of this. Please help me.

Actually AVG has a new free version (AVG7.5)
when you go to install it you get the option to perform a repair
installation...
it will uninstall the old and install the new

There is no need to uninstall - http://www.grisoft.com still has a FOC version.
I has a new number but it is still FOC - I have seen lots of trouble from people
using McAfee. Use AVG and make sure that you have zoneAlarm installed as
firewall and you will be proof of most attempts on you computer. If you also
have a router, correctly set up (Factory default mainly) you are shock proof or
at least your computer is.

If you must go the way of uninstalling then do so in save mode - you can also
use DOS but that is not for beginners.

I tried to download 7.5 avg and guess what for 2 hrs it was downloaded and
then I got a message int exp cannot download avg7.5 I just don't know what to

Carolyn,
Stick with AVG, and get rid of Mac afee program use Add & remove for both
programs. Unfortunally AVG does leave odd files about after removal. Shut
down after removal then boot again.
Load www.ccleaner.com run this and it will pick up most rubbish of
programs,including stuff left in the registry that can cause problems. Then
go to www.grisoft.com and load their latest version of home free edition.
Then run their update from program when you have it loaded.
