hi all, i have a very big problem and urgent need to solve it. By mistake,
while doing my windows 2000 setup i selected a wrong drive. it asked format,
without noticing it i choose yes. that drive has very valuable and huge data
about my previous projects and professional related. i have to recover that.
i heared very long back that there are some "unformat" softwares which can
solve my problem. which one is best? i don't want to loose even a single bit
of the data. i lost data about 5 GB, on that partition. plz help me.

Hugely valuable? but no backups? a contradiction
do something silly/hw failure/PC stolen/damaged = no business

You could try one of these:
http://www.restorer2000.com/r2k.htm
http://www.hddrecovery.com.au
http://bootmaster.filerecovery.biz
http://www.runtime.org/ (GetDataBack)
http://www.runtime.org/ (has a trial version)
http://www.softwarepatch.com/software/filerecoverysecdownload.html
www.acronis.com (RecoveryExpert)

Seeing that a 2.5" hard disk in an external USB enclosure
makes a low cost but highly effective backup medium, it
is hard to see why you chose not to back up your large
amount of "very valuable" (your words) data.

I's suggest going straight to a data recovery professional. THis is not
something you want to potentially make WORSE.
