Undocumented NetBT error 4321

D

Douglas

I have previously described the problem below in this
newsgroup but so far no solution. I have found that in
the event viewer, I receive the following error message,
the timing of which seems to coincide with the loss of
the ability to ping one of my machines:

NetBT error 4321

The name "PARALLAX :1d" could not be registered on
the Interface with IP address 192.168.1.51. The machine
with the IP address 192.168.1.2 did not allow the name to
be claimed by this machine.

PARALLAX is the workgroup name of all the PCs on the
network. 192.168.1.51 is the IP address which can no
longer be pinged from the rest of the network after this
error occurs. 192.168.1.2 is another PC on the network.

When I check the Help Center and Knowledge base for this
error message, I find:

We're sorry

Any ideas?

Just to make sure, you have given all the machines unique names that are not
PARALLAX?

Yes all the machines have unique names that are not
PARALLAX.

For an update on this problem, see my subsequent posting
above, DHCP Error 1002.

If you have any ideas on this, it would be very helpful.

Thanks.
