I was trying to install (actually upgrade) Symantec Desktop Firewall
and now am stuck in a weird state. I am not able to

* uninstall Symantec Desktop Firewall (keep getting the msg "Windows
XP is running in safe mode"
* To Cut and Paste Files or Dirs
* Run Windows Media Player

But when I hit F8 as XP is rebooting, I can't seem to get to state to
change it back from Safe Mode to regular.

Is there any other way to get me out of this catch 22 state?

Really appreciate any help. TIA.

Bring up your "Run" command and type in msconfig hit ok
click on the boot.ini tab
if there is a check in safeboot/ uncheck it.
Hope this helps.
