Undo background apply to all

I'm using PPT XP. At some point I selected background "apply to all". Since
then I have a variety of backgrounds, but whenever I cut and paste (within
the same presentation) it returns to the default background. How do I keep
the same formatting when I cut and paste?
 
You could CTRL-D (duplicate a slide), then drag it to your desire spot in the
pres.
