Unconditional Copy & Paste

For backup purposes, I do a Copy and Paste of all my data
files from my C drive to a 256Mb Memory Stick about once
a month. This takes a long time (about an hour), so I
like to set it up to happen while I'm away from my desk.

The problem is that there are a few special files in
there somewhere that generate a prompt for "Do you really
want to copy this file?" Once that happens, I can
choose "Yes to All," but there's no way I know to make it
happen early in the process. So I end up coming back to
find that the job didn't get done becuase I wasn't there
to say "Yes, really do it."

Is there any way to do a simple but unconditional Copy
and Paste? That is, to say "Yes to All" in advance? I
know I can achieve this with Xcopy but that's rather
complicated.

If Windows can't do it, does anyone know of an
aftermarket add-on that can do it cleanly?

It seems like when I want a big Copy and Paste, I should
be able to do it without having to come back later and
say "Yes, really do it!"

Thanks,

Jon

You need to consider removing those files from that
stick, on occasion you may need to reformat the stick and
or defrag it. Also why not use the CTRL key and hand
select the files you need to copy over rather than select
all command and having to answer to, Yes to all

You might want to try something like Second Copy (www.secondcopy.com).
IIRC this takes a backup at regular (scheduled) intervals and also can take
care of special cases.
however, it's not free, so that might be prohibitive.

A utility that I have been using for several years is the answer to that and
many other similar issues - but don't configure it to confirm network
deletion of files because you may have clicked on the wrong folder and it's
gone.

It is called "Push the Freakin Button" or PTFB.

The version that I have is free and I don't know if that version is still
available . . . it was so popular that someone decided to start charging for
it . . . but the simpler free version may still be out ther if you do some
searches.

Why not use a good back-up program like Secondcopy? This allows you to do a
full back up very quickly and also incremental backups of data that has
changed since the previous day. I use this daily. I couldn't allow a gap of
a month!
