unable to win 2000 pro to the domain

hi,
i have gone through the article KB272237. but not
resolving the problem.i am logging into thwe workstation
as administrator and have the privilage to add the pC's to
the domain. but i am unable to connect it to the domain.
even i tried with Windows XP professional, it shows the
access is denied or logon errors.

can you ping the domain for the computer you are trying to join from ?
