Unable to view any Events in Event Viewer

I have a server that I can not view any events in Event
viewer. I have tried loacaly and remotly, and I have saved
the file and tried on my WIN 2000 computer. The server is
a 2000 server with TS.

Hi,

Thanks for the input. However, this is not a case of
corrupt event logs. The same is with services,
performance monitor under admin tools , MMC etc .
When I try to close out event viewer or services or
anything that is open , i get a meesage:

Microsoft Management Console: Close all property pages
before closing services /event viewer or as the case may
be.
I am left with no other option but to End task from
taskmanager and reboot.
