Unable to supply other username other than 'Guest' on network share

I'm trying to access a network share on an XP Pro machine
(specifically, the C$), and when the dialog box appears, asking for the
credientials, the username is greyed out, and is defaulted to a
'Guest'. What setting do I change that will allow me to login as any
valid username on that computer so that I can access the share.

PS The default admin share is set up appropriately... I've read all the
MS articles on how to set it up, so don't worry about that part.

thanks

It seems that simple file sharing is turned on and Guest account is either
disabled or has been denied access from the network. To turn simple file
sharing off, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, My Computer.
2. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options, and then click the View tab.
3. In the Advanced Settings section, clear the "Use simple file sharing
(Recommended)" check box.
4. Click OK.

After that, make sure that the local user has enough permissions to access
the network share on the remote machine.
