Unable to start XP - always defaults to ME

C

Chandra Sekhar

I made a mistake by running SYS C:\ from a windows ME startup disk on my
computer which was a dual boot (ME & XP).

Now I dont have my OS options screen anymore. I am unable to get to XP by
anymeans. Everytime I switch on my machine, it by default gets into ME. Any
change in boot.ini file has no effect!

I want to get back my XP. Could you please help.

Thanks in advance.

Sekhar.

Try an XP boot floppy:

Format a floppy in GUI mode, dont quick format
Copy NTLDR, ntdetect.com and boot.ini to it
Set BIOS for the PC to boot floppy first
See if the machine boots. If it does copy the files to the root of C and
see what happens from there.
