Unable to share internet connection w/XP

Looking for help on getting ICS to work. XP Pro is Host,
Win-Me & Win98se are connected via network hub. Running
Zone Alarm firewall as well as XP firewall but have Lan
connection excluded. XP Pro using 192.168.0.1,
255.255.255.0 others are mapping IP address OK & setup
such that 192.168.0.1 is default gateway. Other coputers
show they are connected to host via icon in Tray. I can
share files between them all, but not internet? Also, I
can Ping the host computer w/o problem, just can't ping
other sites (ping google.com, etc.). Any suggestions ??

On the XP firewall and/or ZoneAlarm open UDP port 53.

Opened up UDP Port 53 & disabled Windows Firewall
(suggestion from another post to only have 1 firewall).

Still unable to obtain Internet connectivity..???

Any more suggestions....didn't expect ICS to be this
difficult.

Mark,

Can you ping by ip address but not by name? Or by neither? Can you ping from
the ICS host, but not the clients?

Define the scope of the problem please. From each computer:

From a command window:
1) Ping www.yahoo.com.
2) Ping 66.94.230.33.
Report success / exact text of error messages.

From your browser:
3) Browse www.yahoo.com.
4) Browse 66.94.230.33.
Report success / exact text of error messages.

If you're able to ping by ip address but not name, try a Winsock repair.

Give LSP-Fix and WinsockXPFix <http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm>, or WinsockFix
<http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=257> a shot.

If XP SP2, Start - Run - "cmd". Type "netsh winsock reset catalog" into the
command window.

If no help yet, reset TCP/IP.

Start - Run - "cmd". Type "netsh int ip reset c:\netsh.txt" into the command
window.

If there's no problem on the host, and absolutely no connectivity from the
clients, post IPConfigs from each computer here. That's a good place to start.
Start - Run - "cmd". Type "ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt" into the command
window - Open c:\ipconfig.txt in Notepad, copy and paste into your next post.
Identify operating system (by name and version) with each ipconfig listing.

Cheers,
Chuck
Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.

Try manually configuring a client machine:

IP address = 192.168.0.x
Subnet mask = 255.255.255.0
Gateway = 192.168.0.1
Prim. DNS = IP address of ISP's DNS server - you can discover this by
running ipconfig /all on the ICS machine.
