Unable to share folder or view properties!

Debbie

I'm running Windows XP Professional (SP2 is not installed). When I select
either "Sharing and Security" or "Properties" on any folder nothing happens!
I am only able to share my root drive "C" - which I do not want to do!! I
am logged in with an Administrator account so should have full rightsd etc.
Can someone please tell me how to fix this problem - it's driving me nuts.

Debbie (

Open any folder. Go to Tools->Folder Options->View
Turn off the last thing on the list (the one that says something about
simplified security and has the "Recommended" remark).
Close everything, then check if the settings you need appear.

Did that, but it made no difference - still cannot access "Sharing" or
"Properties".

I'm running XP Pro & I've had exactly the same problem that Debbie
describes since installing SP2 3 weeks ago. I've tried a bunch of
things - including D/L'ing & installing ShellExView & using it to
disable most of my context menu handlers. Nothing has helped.

I'm about to restore XP to a date prior to my installation of SP2.
Before I do, does anyone have any other suggestions?

TIA

First you need to be using an NTFS drive; these things do not work in
FAT32. Then go to Folder Options - View, and uncheck 'Use Simple File
Sharing'

I had this exact same proble. In another post it was suggested to uninstall
IIS and then re-install IIS. (IIS= Internet Information Services and can be
installed or unistalled from Add/Remove Windows Components in Add/Remove
Programs). I tried it and it worked for me.
