Unable to send E Mail via 'Contacts'

When creating an ordinary e mail the top bar has a Send button.
When I try to send a message to a single name or a group in my contacts
list, I right click the contact/group and at 'Action' I click send mail.
However the window that opens does not have a Send button.
It looks similar to a Word 2007 window but there appears to be no facility
to send an e mail!
Any help would be much appreciated.

Start | Default Programs
Make sure Windows Mail has all its defaults.

Not sure why you would want to use that method to choose recipients.
Just click on the 'To:' icon.
