Unable to run Window Update

Every time I run Windows Up Date I end up at a screen that says Administrators Only. This also happens when I try to use the Run As... context menu option. So far I have tried:

1) Checking "Use HTTP 1.1 through Proxy Connections" in Internet Explorer Options.
2) I have added "windowsupdate.Microsoft.com" to the exceptions list.
3) I run Windows Update with all firewalls anti-virus software turned off.
4) I have gone to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate to add Everyone to Permissions. I don't have a Permissions key in WindowsUpdate nor is it a subkey under WindowsUpdate. Under the WindowsUpdate key I have the entry
ODFFileURL REG_SZ http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/odf/wuodf.xml.
The WindowsUpdate Shortcut's program is %SystemRoot%\system32\wupdmgr.exe.

Can anyone help before I get a virus?????

Log on as an administrator.
Limited users cannot access Windows Update.

I am a computer administrator. I am the only user on this WinXP. There is
no administrator user, I deleted it over two years ago.
