Unable to run MMC

Guest

Hi!

Every time i try to run MMC (or running any program using an MMC snap-in
like SQL server 2000) in an account that is not member of the administrators
group, i get the error:

"MMC.exe Application error- the application failed to initialize properly
(0xc0000022) press OK to close".

From what i can tell, this is some obscure way of telling me that i don't
have the permission for running MMC in this account.

Something must have been corrupted somewhere in this particular workstation
because MMC is working fine on any other computer when i'm logged with any
users.

I've searched the web and tried everything i know with no luck.

The Temp environment variable is there, the path is valid and the security
is ok.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

This article may help.

How to Restore the Default NTFS Permissions for Windows 2000
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=266118

The article is a little deceptive. At step 7 create a new database.

The default user profile is probably corrupt. You can copy the good profile
over the \default user. Control Panel|System|User
Profiles, select the good profile (while logged on as another user with
local administrative rights), Copy To, Browse to
%systemdrive%\Documents and Settings\Default User
Change "Permitted to use:" to "Everyone" OK

Delete the corrupt profiles and when you next logon as the user; a new
profile will be created from an image in \default user.

Be sure to backup the user data before hand.
