Hi!
I just added a slave hard drive to store my data while I
reformatted my boot drive and reinstalled XP. Now, I get
an error message titled "Invalid Volume Label" that
says "You do not have sufficient rights to perform this
operation" when I try to change the name of the drive,
even when logged on as the administrator (who's name I
changed).
Is there a permission or security setting I need to
change in order to enable this?

Thanks!

Don't know the answer to your question...exactly...but here is a workaround.

At a CMD Prompt, run LABEL [drive:][label]

Example: label d: "Data Drive"

I had the same problem trying to rename my C:-drive and I believe there must
be
a bug in Windows XP preventing such rename regardless of which user is
logged
on. (I even logged on in safe mode and tried as "Administrator" with no
luck).

The "DOS" command "LABEL" did indeed work when at last I tried that one.

regards Sven
