unable to remove itunes program

I cannot remove the itunes program from my home edition XP using the normal
procedure of add/remove programs. When I hit the remove, the Installshield
starts and halfway through it disappears. The program will not go away. Any
suggestions?

I have also tried removing any related program to the Apple stuff such as
itunes and ipod.

I use XP home edition with a PC 2.0 Intel processer, 512 memory.

Thank you.

I would like to try to reinstall the program, however I don't ever recall
installing it myself! I don't use the ipod or itunes. Somehow they got
installed behind my back.
Any other suggestions?

The method works whether or not you were the one who installed the program.

However, if you didn't install the program, then someone else did. And if
you don't know who did then you've got a much larger problem.

I believe it may have been installed, discreetly, by installing Quicktime to
view something. Should I reinstall Quicktime?

If the only thing you wish to remove is iTunes, you need only reinstall and
then uninstall iTunes.

When you get the latest version of QT, you also get Itunes. You can get the
standalone version of QT from the Apple web site. Uninstall everything, ie QT
and Itunes, then get the QT version.
