Ok, I'm trying to register with the AD dns server in my domain. Every other
machine works fine. The box that is registering is a w2k3 server enterprise
edition set with a static ip running on IA64. The domain is w2k based.
I issue the force registration command and get the following:
ipconfig /registerdns
Windows IP Configuration
Registration of DNS records failed: The RPC server is unavailable.
ipconfig /all says:
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : mydomain.com
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Intel(R) PRO/1000 MT Dual Port
Network Co
nnection
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-0E-xxxx
DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 10.1.5.5
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.240.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 10.1.1.1 (local ad server)
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 10.1.1.1 (local ad server)
10.1.1.2 (ad server at remote site)
Thanks!
