Unable to print after SP4 install

Hi

*first and foremost, if I should post this in i a different section, please let me know because I really need some help with this

I have a windows 2000 Professional machine that was previously SP2, with very few patches installed (not my machine, but one I am working on)

Previously was printing fine to a printer attache to LPT1 on machine A (xp professional, previously not SP'd)

I have now installed SP 1 on the XP machine as well as brought it up to date with all security patches

I have installed SP4 on the Win2000 machine and also brought it up to date with all security patches

Now when the Win2000 machine boots I get a Workstation error "Could not load any transport" (but the workstation service is running)

I am unable to print to the printer attached to machine A. I am also unable to browse the workgroup both machines are in (I can look at shared folders directly, just unable to browse)

I have tried uninstalling the protocols, the network adapter, changing the slot the network adapter is in.... all to no avail

I think it must have something to do with the Workstation error, but the only reference I can find on the net to this is in regards to computers joining a domain. I have also tried removing the Win2000 PC from the workgroup and then putting it back in again

Also, I have noticed Browser errors being reported in the event log, however these go back over a year

Has anyone else had this experience after installing SP4? This one has me stumped

Thanks in advance
Ozzie

This message is the effect of a network configuration problem. It would be
helpful if you cold copy+paste any event logs that show up around the same
time (the icon under the down arrow when you open the event is "copy").
