Unable to play dvd's since I upgraded to Vista

Hello,

I have a Dell Dimension E520 that came with XP, everything worked
fine. Ever since I upgraded to Vista a few months ago, I haven't been
able to use the dvd player. I've tried different dvd's, I've tried
using WMP, Windows Media Center, AVS. When I try to play a dvd, the
player will immediately go to a state of 'Not Responding' and then any
application I have open will also go to 'Not Responding' and I will
have to do a restart.

I have checked the device manager, the device is working properly,
I've tried updating the Driver, no luck. I went into the registry and
removed the upper and lower filters, no luck.

Anyone seen this problem before?

Thanks!

It sounds like you may have an incompatible DVD decoder installed on the
system, check the programs list by clicking on Start, Control Panel, select
"Control Panel Home" from the left hand task pane, and under "Programs" click
on "Uninstall a program".

Which edition of Windows Vista are you using?

Hi Kristan,

Thanks for responding. I'm sorry, I'm not sure what you mean, what
should I uninstall?

I am using Vista Home Premium
