unable to ping by NetBIOS name

I have two computers, both using NetBIOS. Let's say that their
NetBIOS names are computerA (10.0.0.1) and computerB (10.0.0.2). I
can ping computerB (with the NetBIOS name) from computerA without a
problem, but when I try to ping computerA from computerB, it doesn't
work. Yet ping 10.0.0.1 does.

Any ideas as to why? computerA (10.0.0.1) is using DHCP, whereas
computerB isn't, but I don't think that'd make a difference.

What are Computer B's DNS settings? Since you set a static IP for it, make
sure you also put in static DNS servers.

Also, several anti-virus system may block the "NetBIOS name
resolution" as a measure of blocking Interent worm style viruses.

The DNS servers (along with the gateway and the subnet mask) are
indeed the same as ipconfig /all reveals.

Doesn't NetBIOS operate independently of DNS, though?

I have AVG Free 7.5 on computerA (off hand, I'm not sure what I have
on computerB).

Incidentally, I'm at work, right now (as opposed to my house) and
yesterday I was able to ping thinkpad-mobile but now I'm not.
Yesterday I rebooted the computer and tried pinging it afterwards.
Today I just took it out of hibernate. Maybe the computer needs to
actually be turned on, completely, for it to work? (I don't want to
turn my computer completely off and on right now because I'm working
on stuff; it's why I went into hibernate in the first place).
