XPHome strange Internet access problem

Have 2 computers running xpHome, with a Dlink router, on DSL. ComputerA is the
problem. Was running fine, no problems. DSL modem went down, got a
replacement, and both computers resumed internet access. Next day, ComputerA
can no longer access internet "through the router". Actually, it can ping
external IP's ok, but can't go anywhere using a browser. I even entered
Microsoft's *IP* in browser address bar, but still can't go. When I unplug
ComputerA from the router and go directly to the DSL modem, no problem,
everything works ok.

ComputerB has no problem in going through the router, so I tried plugging
ComputerA's cable into the port ComputerB was using, but the same thing happend,
ComputerA can ping outside IP's, but can't go there.

I don't understand how the router can be effecting anything, or, even if it was,
by using the same port that ComputerB was successfully using should have worked.

I would think that if computerA's TCP/IP was messed up, then it would't work
when I plug directly into the DSL modem.............?

(using DHCP on the router, and computerA does indeed receive proper settings
from the router)

Any suggestions?

Thanks, Josh

Open a Run command and type in:
ipconfig /flushdns click [OK]
ipconfig /renew click [OK]

Also you may have a winsock corrupt so try to repair it, you can do this in
two ways:
1- Mnually by opening a run command:
netsh winsock reset [OK]
Then Reboot your computer and try the IE.
If still no joy run the network wizard on this machine and try to connect.
Also Run the ipconfig /all on both machine and see if they match(i.e
192.168.0.2 A and 192.168.0.3 B).
HTH.

Thanx, will give that a try, but wouldn't think would be winsock problem, as it
works ok when hooked direct to dsl modem. But will try.
