unable to open ppt slides?

I can open ppt files and run slide show, copy, paste etc
all fine but I am unable to open any charts etc to edit
details. I keep getting a message " the server
application, source file or item cannot be found or as
returned an unkown error.."

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?
