unable to open portable storage device

daughters portable storage will work on her laptop, not the desktop. both
have win xp. error message says one driver is invalid. tried sandisk site
for drivers but was told xp should recognize. tried to download the drivers
and computer tells me I don't need them. any idea what else to try?

Do they both have up to service pack 2 installed? Do they both have all the
updates? That's all I can think of. I've never had my computer tell me I
didn't need a driver.

Go into Device Manager on the PC, see if it`s showing any USB errors. Or
post the error message here.
