Unable to Open IE 6 SP2

When I try to open IE6 SP2 I get the following dialog box:
"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
X Runtime Error
Program: C\Program Files\Internet Explorer\explore.exe
This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application support team!"

I have reloaded IE 6 and SP2 and the problem has not cleared.
Can anyone help?
