Have peculiar problem. I am unable to install files from
some CDs. For eg was trying to download Acrobat6 from a
CD which arrived with a magazine but it just wont install
though I can see the contents. While I have XP I am
runnign an older version of MS Office.

Hello!Ranjit!
put the same CD
into other CD drive (CDR/RW and vice versa) and retry.
Some times the files are also remain corrupted and either they are
very slow to open or not don't open at all.

Hi Ranjit,

Common installation problems are usually cured by restarting the machine,
then....

1) Delete the contents of the temp folders, there may be a file in there
interfering with the setup routine of the installer.

C:\Windows\temp
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\local settings\temp

2) Turn off all other running programs, especially your antivirus software.
Use ctrl+shift+escape, if necessary, to "end task".
