unable to open enternet explorer

anybody got any ideas.
just recently i got a message banner tell me that
explorer had got a problem and needed to shut down.
Great! since then that is all i get.my only way into the
internet and e-mails is via MSN Explorer/outlook express.
i have downloaded IE6 but to no avail.

Pat,
From Control Panel> Internet Options> Advanced uncheck "Enable third party
browser extensions." That should allow IE to open.

Run CWShredder from http://www.net-integration.net/tools/hijackthis.html
It's been
the most helpful with this problem. CWShredder is only about 125 KB so it
could be downloaded from another machine onto a floppy disk.

You may need to follow up with Ad-aware and/or Spybot S&D. Both programs
should be updated after installation- before use.

You should re-enable browser extensions after the cleanup.
