Internet Explorer shuts down when opened

Can anybody help me? This has happened before. When I go to open Internet
Explorer, it shuts down completely. The first time this happened, years ago
was when I discovered it's time to download Netscape since I can no longer
use Explorer. Whenever I reload Windows XP, my Explorer works again, then it
eventually shuts down when trying to open it again. I never get any error
messages.

I am running Windows XP SP1 and Internet Explorer 6. My Windows Explorer
doesn't even work, that stopped way before Internet Explorer but I think
maybe that has something to do with it.

I tried using directions I found on Google to repair it but it was for
Windows 98 so it didn't work. I have no idea how to do it. I do have
Firefox and Netscape already but some things do not open with those browsers
so I need to have IE for certain task.

Have you tried running any spyware/ad ware programs? I don't know all of
them
but I know you can get Adaware from lavasoft.de.

It might find something. I'm guessing something in the registry.
If you do a google search, you should also get Spy Bot.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but it's a start

Yes I have. I have run Lavasoft and Spy Sweeper. I always have adware and
remove it but that doesn't work.
