Unable to map to workstation?

I am trying to map to a shared folder on a peer to peer network, both
machines are running 2000 pro. The workgroup is omt on both workstations, and
the shared folder is logs , with shared permission to music, and everyone as
well.
I’m setting up a new workstation, lets call it station2, the user is music
and password is music. I goto the neighborhood network to look at station1,
It will bring up the omt workgroup, but if you click on it , it times out
(not Responding).
The old workstation I am removing does the same thing, but I can map to the
folder logs and another workstation that is not omt and it works. When I map
from the new station 2 it ask for a user and password, and I can‘t map to it,
I have tried music and the administrator password and that don’t get it, I
can’t get by the user and password. But I can map to another workstation, put
the user and password in and it works but not omt.
I put my laptop on line and have the same problem.

You need user accounts on the machine sharing the folder that match
(username and password) the user accounts on the other two. Those accounts
(on the sharing computer) must have share and ntfs permissions to access the
shared folder. So if user "music" (password "music") is logged on to
station2, then a user account must exist on the "server" - username and
password "music". and the "music" account must have both share permissions
and ntfs permissions to at least read the shared folder.
