unable to log on after installation

Hi there hello 2 u all.
After an XP installation (completed succesfully) I am
unable to log on. I did not gave up an password, so when
I hit the button to logon, its giving me the message The
specified domain either does not exiist or cannot be
contacted?
It is just a regular standard xp pro installation with
all standard settings?
Can anyone help me out here?

sounds like you told windows during setup that you were "part of a domain"
instead of "not part of a network or part of workgroup". Either rerun setup
or boot into safe mode and change this setting if, in fact, you are not part
of a domain.
