unable to install XP

1. What are you installing XP over?
2. What do you think is the source of the other OS?
3. How many partitions do you have on your disk?
4. Size of disk, partitions and free space?
Can you back up your files on another partition and do a
clean install?
 
Installing over Windows 98SE
uninstalled Windows 2000 a year ago
2, C and D
12GB on C with over 1GB free space, 19GB on D with 736MB
free space
 
I realize that this is not your immediate problem, but
that disk is "full." XP takes up 1.5 gig. You may want to
deal with that one first...

You must have got a copy of he 'OEM' version. This is intended for new
machines and will not install it it finds any existing windows present.
You would have to remove those first.
