Unable to install Windows 2000 Server

Hi

I have a portatil PC (Toshiba Satellite M30X) and I want to install a
Windows 2000 Server (Service Pack 4) on it. But unfortunatelly I weren't able
to do it.

I boot my pc, and it boot from The installation CD of Windows 2000 Server.
At first sigth, all is correct. Appears a blue screen, in which I can see two
things. On the top, Installation of Windows 2000 Server and on the botton,
several messages that show that the installation program is loading devices.

But my computer doesn't finish this work. It suddenly appears another blue
screen that said something like that:

STOP blah, blah Address BFF97874 base at BFF7A000 DateStamp 3e25ba16 -
acpi.sys

I have called to Toshiba and they said that its posible to install Windows
2000 in this computer and said me that it must be a problem.
with the Windows.

What could I do?

Thanks

Mary,

The most important part of the STOP message is "blah, blah" as you described
it.

Try to update the BIOS first. If it won't help, do not install ACPI HAL. Hit
F7 at the early setup stage and the Standard HAL would be installed without
a warning.

Yes it is the first blah that is important. The rest of the blahs not really.
